What is a Large Letter Tube?

A Large Letter Tube or PiP Tube as they are also called, is a cardboard or paper postal tube that has been made with dimensions that allow it to be posted as a Large Letter with Royal Mail in the United Kingdom.

In 2006 Royal Mail introduced size based pricing for letters being sent to addresses in the UK which also included changes that affected postal tubes or mailing tubes & the postage charges for sending them. The introduction of a category called Large Letter between a standard letter & a parcel meant that having a tube that was within the Large Letter size limits for the new Pricing in Proportion or PiP could save senders a lot of money on their postage spend. Defendapack were the first to respond to the changes with the introduction of the first Large Letter qualifying postal tubes which we called PiP Tubes.
